You do not want a Moldy Basement Wall!

Mold only grows in a wet environment. It does not grow in a dry environment. A damp basement is a perfect environment for mold to grow in. Sometimes you actually don’t see the mold even though it is there. Some of the signs that there may be mold growing in your basement are:

• A musty or earthy smell may indicate mold
• Stains on the wall, which can be any colour, stains on a carpet (if you put some bleach on the stain and it disappears it is likely mold, if it doesn’t it’s usually just a stain).
• Damp or wet basement – if this condition has been existing for a while then and no mold has been found it is very likely that mold will soon appear.
• Health issues that one may not understand.

You can clean the mold on walls with various store bought solutions but this is only temporary. If you have wet or damp areas in your home, the mold will come back until the real problem is handled.
